Wichita woman sentenced to probation for Delano fire

A Sedgwick County judge has given two years probation to a Wichita woman in connection with a fire earlier this year at a Delano business.

37-year-old Cassie Grover was sentenced to 24 months probation with an underlying sentence of 17 months in prison, meaning that if she violates probation she will have to serve the prison sentence.   Grover was also ordered to pay $90,500 in restitution.

Grover pleaded no contest in July to a charge of aggravated arson.  She was arrested after a fire March 21st at Idle Hands Tattoo at 929 West Douglas, and police said she was a former employee of the business.

District judge Kevin O’Connor ordered Grover to pay $15,000 to the two women who co-own the building and $75,000 to the insurance company.   Grover was also ordered to have no contact with any of the employees or the owner of the tattoo parlor and to stay away from the business.

The district attorney’s office said in a press release that this was a presumptive probation case under Kansas sentencing guidelines based on the severity of the crime and Grover’s criminal history.
