135:
Today, an overhead sign structure will be removed from southbound I-135 between 21st St. and 13th St.
Starting at 8:30 am, the right lane of SB I-135, 21st to 13th, will be closed. The ON ramps from 29th St. and 21st St. plus the 13th St. OFF ramp will also be closed.
Once these closures are made, a crane will be positioned to remove the overhead structure. Then,ALL lanes of SB I-135 — not just the right lane — will be closed between 21st and 13th streets will be CLOSED to all traffic. All SB I-135 traffic will exit at 21st St. and a marked detour will be in place using 21st St. to Hillside Ave. to 13th St. to I-135.
If all goes as planned, the closure should last less than two hours.
235:
Crews will be closing NB I-235 from N. Meridian to I-135 this weekend. The closure will begin at 9 pm Friday the 13th and will re-open on Sunday the 14th. A marked detour will be in place. KDOT says they hope they can reopen it on Saturday if possible.
Broadway:
Broadway will be completely closed from 37th St. to north of the interstate tonight from 7 pm until 6 am and on Friday the 13th from 7 pm until sometime Saturday afternoon. A detour will use 37th St., Arkansas Ave. and 53rd St. This is to place steel beams on the new I-235 bridge over N. Broadway.
