Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Conan, the dog that helped bring down one of the world’s most sought after terrorists.  By now, you know the story of how Conan, the Belgian Malinois credited with scaring the leader of ISIS into detonating his suicide vest.  As a result of the explosion Conan suffered injuries in the line of duty.  This week, Conan is scheduled to visit President Trump at the White House and many active military believe Conan deserves to receive the Purple Heart.  In 1943 a dog named Chips received a Silver Star for his actions in World War II but since then the practice was discontinued because some thought it might be disrespectful to the human soldiers who served.  However, today, many including a former Army Ranger believe that absolutely Conan deserves the medal. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.  Till then, good boy Conan and thank you for your service.
