Man arrested for fatal stabbing in south Wichita

A 44-year-old man was booked for first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of 28-year-old Devin Cook.

Wichita police were called early Saturday to a home in the 2400 block of South Washington, near Pawnee and Washington. Officers found the man and Cook had been arguing, and the man wanted police to get the Cook out of his home. Because she had been allowed to live there officers were not able to force her to leave.

After officers left the home there was a physical fight between Cook and her roommate, and police returned. The 44-year-old man was arrested as he left the home. Cook was found inside the house with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to a hospital but died from her injuries.

Police say Cook had been living with the 44-year-old man for about a month.
