The former operator of the water system in Garden Plain has been sentenced to a year of probation for falsifying a report on the quality of the city’s drinking water.
64-year-old Arthur Wolfe of Norwich was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. He had pleaded guilty to a charge of making a false statement in a report to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The report was required by the Environmental Protection Agency. Prosecutors said he certified a bacteriological report that falsely represented water samples taken at the Garden Plain treatment plant as samples taken at other locations.
