Wichita residents call on senators to be fair and impartial with impeachment trial

A group of Wichita residents gathered Monday morning to call for Kansas senators Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran to be fair and impartial in the impeachment trial of President Trump, which continues Tuesday.

Jane Byrnes was among the group that called for senators to take their roles as jurors seriously, and to hear key witnesses and evidence during the trial.   Byrnes said the senators have taken an oath to be impartial in their handling of the trial.

Friends University political science professor Russell Arben Fox spoke to the group and said senators are called by oath to listen to the case presented by the House, and listen to the case presented by the President’s attorneys, and then they have to come to a judgement.   Fox sees almost no chance that the Senate will convict the President, but senators should consider the evidence and hear from witnesses and then exercise their judgement.
