Sedgwick County commissioner Lacey Cruse has accepted an invitation to attend a special event in Ghana, West Africa.
Cruise will attend an appreciation dinner for Paramount Queen Mother Nana Aplam II, and she will be accompanied by African-American Council of Elders representative Dr. Wakeelah Martinez.
County commissioners approved a proclamation last July honoring Queen Mother Aplam. Cruse said she is pleased to represent Sedgwick County at an event on January 31st and she said she will work to bring back relationships to benefit the county economy and Ghana. She plans to meet with dignitaries and community leaders to talk about local, regional and state economic development and educational opportunities. Some of the topics will include trade partnerships, aviation manufacturing repair operations, educational programs, and cultural exchange opportunities.
Queen Mother Aplam and delegates from Ghana have scheduled a return trip to Sedgwick County for July to continue discussions.
