A registered sex offender has been sentenced to 50 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child pornography.
36-year-old Daniel Merida of El Dorado admitted using the internet to contact a 12-year-old girl in 2012, and prosecutors said he sent her obscene material as well as child pornography. During a search in March, 2018, he was found in possession of additional child pornography. After his arrest in November, 2018, a second search found that he had used online storage to transport more child pornography materials, and he has other materials on his phone.
Merida admitted committing the crimes while he was still on supervised release in a previous case.
