The city of Wichita is offering a free eight-week program to help citizens learn more about city government and how to be more involved in the community.
The Civic Engagement Academy meets Wednesday evenings starting March 25th, from 5:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Neighborhood assistant Cory Buchta said the program will include a tour of the Law Enforcement Training Center and a panel discussion with mayor Brandon Whipple and city council members.
Buchta said participants will also be challenged to get involved in engagement activities, such as visiting a park or library branch that they have never visited before, riding public transit or attending an advisory board meeting.
Graduates of the program will receive a certificate of civic leadership. Applications are available at www.wichita.gov/ceaapp
