Sheriff’s Office says missing boy claim is a hoax

A man claiming to be Adam Herrman popped up on Twitter over the weekend.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating the claims and says the man behind recent Tweets is not Adam Herrman.

Herrman disappeared from his adopted family’s home in Towanda in 1999, when he was close to 10-years-old. The family did not report he was missing until 2008, which led to suspicions, though no sign of foul play in Herrman’s disappearance was ever found.  Police had searched the mobile home park where the family lived, but did not find any evidence of human remains in the area. Investigators said they did find something, but that detail was never expanded on.

The motive behind this man’s claim is not clear.  The 24-year-old man had worked at the Butler County jail several years ago.
