Woman found dead underneath train in Newton

Newton Police are working to identify a woman whose body was found partially underneath a train car early Thursday morning.

It began shortly after 12 a.m. when police were called to the area of Fourth and Main on the report of a woman nearly being struck by a train.  Police searched the area but did not find anyone.

Shortly before 2 a.m., police were called back the same location on the report of a woman being hit by a train.  Officers found the woman partially underneath a train car and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman had no identification on her, but did have a few personal items with her.  She is described as white and is estimated to be in her 50’s.  She has brown hair, brown eyes, and weighs approximately 170 pounds.

She was wearing blue jeans, a maroon shirt, and a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt.  Anyone who has information about the incident or who can help identify the woman is asked to contact Newton Police.
