In an effort to serve the community and promote social distancing, the Table of Hope Metropolitan Community Church has set up a drive-through food pantry.
“We knew we didn’t have enough volunteers to deliver groceries to their homes,” said Pastor Jackie Carter. “And we knew we couldn’t allow them to be inside together standing in lines.”
People in need will need to call the church on Mondays and set an appointment for pickup on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The church shared the following instructions.
Here’s how it works: To participate in the pantry, you must call the church, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at 316-267-1852 to give eligibility information and get an appointment for Tuesday or Wednesday. Participants must fill out a form every week they want food. Clients will be allowed to come twice a month. Or go to Facebook, find Table of Hope and fill out a form online.
