A group of protesters gathered outside McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita on Saturday to call for justice in the death of a soldier from a a base in Texas.
20-year-old Vanessa Guillen was reported missing in April at Fort Hood, and her remains were found July 1st. Another soldier suspected in her death shot and killed himself when police found him in Killeen, Texas.
The protesters are calling for a congressional investigation into Guillen’s death and the problem of sexual harassment on U.S. military bases. Organizers said more protest events will be held in the coming weeks. Similar protests were held across the U.S. on Saturday.
