Wichita’s Big Read event postponed to early 2021

The Wichita Public Library has decided to postpone the annual Big Read program that was scheduled in the fall.  The event was planned to run from October 1st through November 15th.  It will be scheduled for January and February of next year.

A press release from the library said the planning team was making public health and safety as the top concern, and they’re looking at changes that will make the Big Read events mostly virtual.   More details will be announced later.

The featured book is “Circe,” a novel by Madeline Miller about the goddess Circe that takes readers into a world of gods, monsters and mortals.

The Wichita Public Library has received a grant of $15,000 to host a Big Read under the National Endowment for the Arts.   The NEA has provided grants to 84 organizations to support a community reading program.
