KDHE resumes posting of active COVID-19 cluster locations

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has resumed the posting of locations that have active clusters of COVID-19 cases.   The list of locations will be placed on the KDHE web site every Wednesday.

KDHE secretary Lee Norman said changes have been made in the criteria for the listings.   He said the list will have locations that have had active cases within the past 14 days, and if a location no longer has cases, it will be removed from the list.

A cluster is considered to be five or more active cases with an onset of symptoms.

Dr. Norman said KDHE received positive and negative feedback on the listing of cluster locations, and that led to the changes.   He said the goal is to provide information on locations that may have more immediate risk for the spread of the coronavirus, so people can make decisions on whether to visit those locations.

The list includes businesses, schools, churches, care facilities, organizations, and other facilities that have had active clusters.
