Kansas Senators Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran have introduced the Remove Impediments for a Successful Economic Recovery–or “RISER” Act–to extend the Coronavirus Relief Fund deadline to December 31st, 2022.
The current deadline to utilize available CRF funding is December 31st, 2020.
To date, Kansas has received roughly $1.25 billion from the CRF, which provides both state and local governments with funding to combat the economic impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The state would lose any additional funding if the funds are not utilized by the December, 2020 deadline.
Senators Roberts and Moran have said that the current deadline will put multiple long-term-economic plans/projects at risk of losing funding if they are not completed by the end of this year.
