A 59-year-old man is in jail on rape and kidnapping charges.
Wichita police spoke with a woman early Sunday morning, who reported walking in the area of Lincoln and Main, when the 59-year-old suspect contacted her. She says she was forced into a nearby home and sexually assaulted. The woman was able to leave the suspect’s home, and called 911 from a home near McCormick and Meridian, which was a little less than two miles away. Police were called to the home around 12:30 a.m.
Investigators were able to find where the woman was assaulted and arrest the suspect. He was booked into jail later Sunday morning, and records show he may be in the U.S. illegally.
Police are turning their information over to the District Attorney’s Office where formal charges will be decided.
