Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Air Force Veteran Brandi Pett. All her life Brandi has faced challenges head on and over come them. Her Air Force career started as an aerospace medical technician and immunology. That ended abruptly when she developed arterial blood clots that almost cost her an arm and both legs. Doctors said she would never walk again. She has since defied the odds and is now preparing to walk across the stage as one of 25 finalists in the Ms. Veteran America 2020 pageant. She hopes to inspire and encourage other Veteran women to succeed. Brandi says, “I really want to challenge the stereotype that women with scars, especially in the social media era, cannot be considered beautiful or glamorous”.
