Freddy Simon, the namesake of a popular Wichita-based restaurant chain, has died at the age of 95.

Freddy’s sons, Bill and Randy, founded the Freddy’s Frozen Custard chain in 2002 and named it after their father.   Freddy became the face of the restaurant chain and was featured in TV and print ads as well as social media.

Freddy Simon grew up in Colwich, Kansas.  He was a World War II veteran and he was actively involved in veterans groups.   He fought in the Pacific Rim and earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his service.
