Kansas correctional officials said an inmate who died Sunday at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility had tested positive for COVID-19. This is the third resident death at Ellsworth, and the tenth death in the Kansas prison system to be connected to the coronavirus.
The resident was a 68-year-old man with underlying medical concerns. He was serving a life sentence for first degree murder. Corrections officials said the man was moved on October 26th to the COVID-19 unit at the Lansing Correctional Facility, and then he was transferred to a hospital.
