Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors a 91-year old Korean War Veteran who wished to remain anonymous after his generous act. So, for the sake of the story, we’ll call him Frank. Frank’s local grocery store was in the middle of it’s annual “Holidays Without Hunger” program and Frank walked in, went to customer service and donated $500 for 100 meals and $1500 for the program. Frank didn’t want any recognition but when asked why such a generous act, he said, during his Korean War tour, he was captured and became a prisoner of war, which led to him to be fed very little for more than two years. He dropped down to 90 pounds, knew what it was like to be hungry and wanted to help any way he could. Thank you Frank for your generosity and THANK YOU for your service.
