Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors World War II Veteran and B-17 pilot Lewis McDonald. Lewis flew several missions over Germany. He said the first time he piloted the plane known as the flying fortress it felt like he was on the front porch trying to fly a house. At 98, Lewis is in assisted living and hasn’t seen most of his family since the pandemic started and he’s had to rely on a small tv, that only shows half a picture, for a connection to the outside world. His nephew wanted to change that so he went to his local Best Buy and told his uncle’s story to the manager in an effort to get an extra $20 off the tv. Turns out the manager, Tim was a Marine Veteran and he did one better, he gifted Lewis a 50-inch smart tv free. Thank you Tim for your generosity and THANK YOU Lewis for your service.
