Early-morning quake rattles Wichita

An earthquake shook the Wichita area early this morning, startling people awake and setting off alarms.

The 3.8 was recorded at 5:04 a.m., centered near 13th and Rock. This is the same area that has seen more than a dozen quakes over the past month. This was the largest quake recorded in Sedgwick County this year. A 3.7 was recorded in the same area on December 19, when several quakes were measured within an hour.

This morning’s quake set off a lot of building alarms but no damage has been reported.
