Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Army Veteran Sgt. Kendra Lou Pieper. Kendra lost her leg during her service when she was injured in 2010 in Afghanistan. As she learned to walk again, she did it with the help of a very special, hand carved cane. The cane has so much detail including her rank, call sign, and medals including her purple heart. Last week while getting gas she accidentally left it leaning against a gas pump, went back to get it 20 minutes later and security cam footage shows it being taken. Now through an incredible outpouring of support from social media and local law enforcement, the hunt is on for the cane. Through this great sentimental loss, Kendra says she has found patriotism in the huge amount of support she has gotten. We hope you find your cane Kendra and THANK YOU for your service.
