The NFL Draft is always full of surprises. Surprise trades, moves, picks…..but engagements? Sure, even if we hear about an engagement at the draft we think, okay, a player got drafted and ‘bent the knee’ for his longtime girlfriend. NOPE, this wasn’t a player, but he’s got game. Toby Kostner won a contest sponsored by Ford to get the opportunity to announce a draft pick for his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. This Emporia, KS native, transplanted to Ohio never imagined he’d win, but he did. That is when he hatched his plan.
Toby, was ready to propose to his longtime girlfriend Briana and he was going to do it at the draft, on stage, right after he announced that pick. Just like that, quoting their favorite movie, he did just that and it was the best moment of the draft.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Toby and Briana on Zoom to talk about that moment, how it happened, the kids, the ring and more.
Best of luck you two. In the immortal words of Wade Wilson, “Some of the best love stories start with a murder, and that’s exactly what this is, a love story”
…and you guys killed it at the NFL Draft.
