Kansas offering free fishing this weekend

Kansas is offering free fishing for all ages this weekend.

Permits will not be required on June 5 and 6, giving potential anglers a chance to get into the sport without having to commit to a license. A free fishing weekend is typically offered once a year, and lines up with some fishing tournaments and activities at state parks.

If you’re interested in getting kids into fishing, permits are not normally required for people under 16. For those 16 and up, who may not want to commit to an annual license, daily permits are available, and their price has been lowered this year to $6 for residents. Non-resident daily permits are $10, with a 5-day option also available for $27.
