The Star Spangled Salute is presented by
The Star Spangled Salute honors all Veterans who suffer from PTSD this time of year. The 4th of July is an ironic holiday. It’s a time to celebrate freedom, often in large crowds with fireworks. It is a day that for those who helped provide that freedom, the struggle is all too real. Loud noises can trigger PTSD, the fireworks can sound like explosions and gunfire and cause a Veteran to remember a traumatic event or series of events. Due to the fact that personal fireworks use increases every year, it’s becoming harder and harder for Veterans with PTSD to escape the triggers. This 4th of July all I ask is be situationally aware if there is a Veteran with PTSD in your neighborhood. Thank you to all Veterans and active duty military who have helped and continue to help provide the freedom we celebrate this weekend.
