City of Augusta Launches Electric Bus Preview

The City of Augusta is close to adding a new, eco-friendly bus to its public transportation.

In June, Augusta Transit held a preview of New Flyer of America, Inc.’s Xcelsior CHARGE electric bus.

The city is now running test drives in its effort to build an application for a grant to integrate electric buses into the city’s transit system. With the premiere launch, Augusta Transit is looking to provide a glimpse into a possible turning point for the city.

The bus will run 8 hours a day on the following routes:

  • Wednesday, July 28th from 6:30 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. – Route 6 Gordon Highway Brown Line
  • Thursday, July 29th from 11 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. – Route 9 Lumpkin Road Red Line
