Police were on the scene of a drowning Friday evening in a residential area in far northwest Wichita.
The drowning was reported around 9 p.m. at a home in the 2200 block of Rio Vista, near 69th Street North and Meridian.
Police say an 8 year old boy was a guest at the home for a back-to-school party, and that he was later found unresponsive in the pool. Life saving measures were attempted, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
