WSU offering drive-thru COVID testing at Metroplex

Wichita State has moved to drive-thru COVID testing at the Hughes Metroplex, at 29th and Oliver.

This should allow people to get through faster and lead to quicker test results. Testing at the Metroplex runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week. Appointments are not needed and results should be available within 24 to 36 hours. These are saliva tests, so you are not supposed to eat, drink, or use tobacco 30 minutes before getting tested.

WSU’s Molecular Diagnostics Lab is testing the samples, which helps with the fast turnaround for results. If you plan on getting tested at WSU’s Metroplex,  you’re asked to do the following:

  • Create a patient account at mdl.wichita.edu before coming to the testing location;
  • Bring your testing code to the Metroplex located at 5015 East 29th St N, Wichita, KS 67220;
  • Receive your test results via email or text within 36 hours after specimen collection. Current wait times are less than 30 minutes for pre-registered individuals who arrive with their testing code.
