Police said a woman armed with a handgun was shot in a confrontation with officers Monday night at a store in east Wichita.
Officers were called to Whole Foods at 13th and Webb Road around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a suspicious character. They found a woman crouched down in front of the store and when she tried to go into the store, shots were fired.
The woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition. No officers or customers in the store were injured.
No other details have been released.
