The Star Spangled Salute is presented by

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors all the Veterans aboard an honor flight that is leaving from Chicago’s Midway airport today, heading for the Nation’s Capital.   This honor flight is different and special because it’s the first all-women special mission honor flight, to honor their service to the country. These women served their country in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. One Veteran, Ginny Narsete said many of the women wanted to give up their seat for a man saying they felt the men were more important.  That attitude changed however because as Ginny said, “You’re just as important because you raised your hand”.  To all the female Veterans on this flight, congratulations on making history and THANK YOU for your service.
