Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors World War II Veteran Embra Jackson Sr.  Embra left the only life he ever knew in Mississippi becoming one of the first black men to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps.   This past weekend he was honored posthumously, when his family was presented with the Congressional Gold Medal in honor of his service.  U.S. Representative Trent Kelly called Embra a “True Hero” saying his patriotism for the America he loved will always be remembered.  Congratulations to Embra and his family for the award and THANK YOU Embra for your service.
