A firefighter in Baxter Springs has died from injuries he suffered during a fire in October.
Lieutenant Malachi Brown had been hospitalized since October 16th. He was part of a volunteer crew that battled a structure fire that day, and he was taken to a Joplin, Missouri hospital and then transferred to a burn unit in Springfield. He had third degree burns to over 27 percent of his body. A post on the Baxter Springs Fire Department’s Facebook page said he died Wednesday evening.
Brown is survived by a wife and three children.
