Cowley County deputies were called to an accident near Arkansas City Monday evening, and they found the driver dead after a pickup went off a roadway and overturned.
The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. in the 17,000 block of Grouse Creek Road. The driver, 47-year-old Tracey Johns of Dexter, was found dead at the scene.
Deputies said Johns was driving a pickup that went off the roadway, hit a sign and then rolled, coming to rest on its top. The driver was ejected from the pickup.
The Cowley County Coroner has ordered an autopsy as deputies continue their investigation.
