Lyon County officials found a Newton woman dead inside a car Wednesday night on a highway west of Emporia.
Deputies were called to a location on Highway 50 to check on a car with two adults and two children inside. Deputies stopped the car and the driver got out, then they heard a sound and found 33-year-old Megan Triplett dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The driver, a 28-year-old Newton man, was arrested for marijuana possession and traffic offenses. The two children were taken into protective custody.
