Wichita Art Museum opens new exhibit featuring Art Deco items

The Wichita Art Museum is opening a new exhibit featuring a variety of items from America’s Art Deco period of the 1920s and 30s.

The exhibit is titled “American Art Deco: Designing for the People, 1918-1939.”  It was organized by the Joslyn Art Museum of Omaha and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City.   It features over 140 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, decorative art and other items.

The director of the Art Museum, Dr. Patricia McDonnell, said there are also five items from the museum’s collection that will be part of the exhibit.

Admission tickets can be purchased at the museum’s Welcome Desk, but tickets will not be available by phone or online.

The exhibit runs through May 29th.
