WSU Tech announced Friday that it will begin offering a registered nurse program.
The school’s president, Dr. Sheree Utash, in an event held at the WSU South campus. She said the two-year program will begin classes in August, and the program is being offered in a partnership with Wichita State University’s College of Health Professions.
Dr. Utash said the U.S. is facing a critical nursing shortage that began before the COVID-19 pandemic, and the shortage is expected to last through 2030. The new program is aimed at increasing the number of skilled nurses for area health care providers.
WSU Tech will continue to offer a one-year program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
