A judge has sentenced a Wichita man to more than 25 years in prison for the shooting death of a teenager more than four years ago.
A sentence of 301 months was given to 21-year-old J’Arim St. Louis. He was convicted of second degree murder, aggravated battery, and other charges of robbery, burglary and assault.
Prosecutors said St. Louis was one of several armed men who robbed 18-year-old Donte Devore of money and marijuana in the 900 block of South Pineridge. Devore was shot several times and died later at a hospital.
Prosecutors successfully argued that St. Louis should be tried as an adult, and his trial began in April of this year. He entered a guilty plea before the trial was over.
