Lifeguards at Rock River Rapids Aquatic Park in Derby performed a water rescue Friday evening.
At approximately 8:52 p.m. on June 17th, a lifeguard identified a 3-year old boy under water in the children’s area of the pool. Derby Fire & Rescue and Sedgwick County EMS responded to the call. The boy was alert and responsive when emergency responders arrived.
He was transported by EMS to a Wichita hospital as a precaution.
Since the park opened in 2004, the only other major incident occurred on July 25, 2019 in which there was a near drowning of a 9-year-old girl.
