The Star Spangled Salute is brought to you by

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 76-year-old Army Veteran Owen Rogers Jr.  After losing his wife of 55 years, Owen felt like his life was over, but with the help of his family and his local VA, he decided to take ownership of his health and well being through music and sports. Owen joined nearly 400 Veteran athletes, ranging in age from 55 years to 90+, and participated in the National Veterans Golden Age Games, which ended on July 23 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Owen received the gold in 75+ boccie ball, a silver medal in boccie ball mixed doubles, a bronze in shuffleboard along with ribbons in discus, javelin, 1500m power walk and shot put.  In all, he partook in 6 events. Owen, was also lucky enough to receive an electric guitar from the program known as Guitars 4 Vets. Owen bought his guitar along to the games and found time to play for the Veterans and their families there.” Keep going strong and giving Owen and THANK YOU for your service.
