A second case of monkeypox has been confirmed in Kansas.

This latest case is in Shawnee County, and it’s believed to be tied to an out-of-state visitor.

The first case in the state was in Johnson County. No specifics on either case have been made public, and health officials do not believe there is any great risk of community spread.

Although monkeypox is not an STD, health officials are reporting many cases appear to be tied to sexual activity, especially among gay men. The CDC has several recommendations to lower the chances of contracting or spreading the virus.
