Sports betting is underway in Kansas under the guidance of the Kansas Lottery and the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission.

Betting activity began at noon Thursday, with Kansas Governor Laura Kelly joining officials at the Hollywood Casino for a formal kickoff event. The Governor placed the first legal sports wager in Kansas, betting $15 – the same as Patrick Mahomes’ jersey number – on the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl LVII this upcoming football season.

The governor signed a bill passed by the Kansas Legislature earlier this year to allow sports betting.

The Kansas Lottery has announced the partnerships that have been formed with the four state-owned casinos.

Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, Kansas will have both in-person sportsbook and mobile sports betting available through Barstool Sports.

Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane will have both in-person sportsbook and mobile sports betting available through FanDuel.

Boot Hill Casino and Resort in Dodge City will offer mobile sports betting through DraftKings, with an in-person sports wagering date to be announced in the near future. In the interim, players are still welcome to visit Boot Hill Casino and Resort and place wagers via a mobile application while there.

Kansas Crossing Casino in Pittsburg will offer mobile sports betting through BetMGMCaesars, and PointsBet, with an in-person sports wagering date to be announced in the near future. In the interim, players are still welcome to visit Kansas Crossing Casino and place wagers via a mobile application while there.

The official start for sports betting activity will be September 8th.
