The Star Spangled Salute is brought to you by

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 92-year-old Army Veteran George Stenehjem.  George graduated West Point in 1964 and then served in Germany and Korea. Two deployments to Vietnam followed, between 1967 and 1970. During that time, he commanded a helicopter battalion with 125 aviators, 5 companies of more than 600 service members, and 75 aircraft. The Vietnam War was the first time the Army used helicopters for tactical purposes.  George said it was easy to maintain, a simple aircraft he could do anythign with. Yesterday, George and his wife Jean went for a long overdue ride in a Huey again.  George said, “I could live in a helicopter.” Glad you had a chance for one more ride George and THANK YOU for your service.
