San Francisco Police say the suspect in a violent attack against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband is facing an attempted homicide charge.

Police Chief Bill Scott said officers arrived at the speaker’s home early Friday morning and saw the intruder attack Paul Pelosi with a hammer. Scott said the possible motive behind the attack is still being investigated.

Both the suspect and Paul Pelosi were taken to the hospital.  Reports said the attacker was yelling “Where is Nancy?” The Speaker was in Washington, DC at the time of the attack.

The Capitol Police, the FBI and San Francisco police are conducting a joint investigation.
