Two people arrested after a Wichita toddler got ahold of a gun and accidentally shot his mother in the foot have been formally charged.

The mother, 22-year-old Kianna Nweji and 25-year-old Marlon M. Jones appeared in Sedgwick County District Court on Thursday. They each face one count of aggravated child endangerment. Their bonds were set at $25,000.

The incident happened on Jan. 12th in the 1200 Block of N. Lorraine. Police claim that while en route, they spotted Jones fleeing on foot to a home in the 3000 Block of East 11th. They later reported seeing him walking back from that residence.

Nweji was found inside the home on  Lorraine with a gunshot wound to her foot and was taken to a nearby hospital. According to investigatore, both Nweji and Jones were lying in their bed when their 2-year-old child obtained the gun and accidentally fired the shot.
