UPDATE: Wichita police are searching for a person of interest in connection with Tuesday’s shooting death of a California man at a west side motel.
Police are looking for 43-year-old Larry Powell. He is five feet four inches tall and 217 pounds and he was believed to be driving a dark blue van with a 60-day tag. The van was captured on a security camera and appears to be a Plymouth Voyager minivan with a luggage rack on top.

Wichita police say an argument at a motel turned physical, leading to the fatal shooting of a 50-year-old man from California.
Officers were called to the Motel 6, near Kellogg and Hoover, around 5:10 Tuesday afternoon. They found the injured man unconscious at the scene and not breathing. They provided life-saving efforts until EMS arrived and got the man to a hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
Investigators found the victim had been involved in an argument with a male suspect, which escalated to the shooting. The exact nature of the argument and the relationship between the men is not clear yet. The suspect had been described as driving a blue minivan with a 60-day tag, but no more details have been released so far.
