Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 98-Year-Old WWII Veteran Stan Crider.  Stan has spent his entire life in the Shenanadoah Valley of Virginia, minus his service which began in 1943 when he was drafted into the Navy.  He served 4 major campaigns, was a D-Day Veteran from Normandy, after which he was part of the 2nd invasion of Southern France in August of 1944.  On board the U.S.S. Arkansas, he was part of some of the war’s most important battles. Oh, he also served in the Pacific during the Iwo Jima and Okinawa campaigns of 1945. Once he settled back home, he met his wife of 73 years.  She recently passed away but Stan takes pride in his independence. He does his own shopping and cooking and gets up before 6 every day and walks almost 4 miles.  Just the other day he participated in and finished a 4K race in his home town.  Keep enjoying your life well lived Stan and THANK YOU for your service.
