Hutchinson police say a 35-year-old man died at a Wichita hospital after being hit by a train last week.
Police were called to a railroad crossing just west of the intersection of 2nd and Monroe on Friday afternoon, March 24th, and they found a man lying next to the tracks. The man was taken to the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He died on Monday.
The victim was identified as Oluwatomisin Elelu.
Police said information from witnesses and video footage showed that the man was walking on the tracks. A trainmaster saw him on the tracks but could not stop the train in time. The accident is still under investigation by Hutchinson police and by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad, but no foul play is suspected.
