Connie’s Mexico Café  in Wichita is celebrating 60 year in business.

Connie’s is Wichita’s Oldest Family-Owned Mexican restaurant. Its doors opened in April 1963 by three family members, Ralph and Connie Lopez and their daughter, Carmen.

The family moved from south Texas to Wichita in 1951 after Ralph finished serving in the Army during World War II.

Carmen, her five daughters and staff have carried forward Connie’s legacy of serving its famous king-sized burritos, tacos and more. Carmen’s two youngest daughters, Cici and Adele, are the third generation of family members who operate Connie’s.

The community is encouraged to join Connie’s Mexico Cafe for its 60th anniversary celebration on Saturday, May 6th. Beginning at 12 noon, Ballet Folklorico dancers will be performing. Door prizes, cake, food and drink specials will also be provided. Connie’s is located at 2227 N. Broadway.
